eSports giants clash for charity

Two of the world’s top eSports teams will clash to raise cash for charity in this year’s Betway eSports Fight Night.

Alliance and Natus Vincere (Na’Vi) will go head-to-head in a best-of-three DOTA match, competing for €5,000, which will go to a charity of the winners’ choice.

The contest will be hosted on Swedish newspaper Aftonbladent’s Twitch channel on Thursday,  June 23.

Betway’s Anthony Werkman said: “Following the unprecedented success of the inaugural event, Betway’s Fight Night is back with a bang and pits two of the world’s greatest teams against each other for bragging rights and a cash prize.

Betway sponsors major eSports tournament

“Our dedicated eSports portal isn’t even a year old yet and we’ve seen eSports grow beyond our own lofty expectations, featuring regularly in our daily top 10 sports for turnover.

“Betway’s Fight Night is becoming a key fixture on the eSports calendar and we’re excited to bring fans the very best DOTA action.”

Swedish bragging rights

The last edition of Betway’s Fight Night saw Sweden’s Fnatic defeat Denmark’s Astralis 3-0 in a hotly contested Counter Strike Global Offensive match.

Betway was the first major bookmaker to launch a dedicated eSports portal, giving fans the opportunity to bet on a wide variety of pre-game, in-play and long term markets.

In the last 12 months, Betway has tripled its eSports team to accommodate the huge surge in interest from eSports bettors.

Elsewhere, many new players have entered the esports betting space, with a series of startups, including Unikrn and Luckbox.
